The Jubillee party might be over, but for these 125 halls (and countless others in the country that could benefit from some upgrades) I hope they feel encouraged with these grants and can make something good for further gatherings and parties. Our village halls are important and can be so many things to those in our communities.
Often it’s a daunting process applying for grants, and then quite a responsibility in actually using the money in the most effective ways. Making decisions and getting agreements from various stakeholders for those in (usually) voluntary positions is challenging. With energy consumption being a big concern at the moment I would urge all those responsible for community buildings to assess what changes they could make to save and future proof where possible and push on – the results will be worth it.
